Consumption of dairy products and CVD risk: results from the French prospective cohort NutriNet-Sante

Laury Sellem et al.

Summary: This study did not find significant associations between dairy intake and overall cardiovascular disease or coronary heart disease risks. However, consuming at least 160 g/d of fermented dairy was associated with a lower risk of cerebrovascular diseases. Further research is needed to better understand the relationship between different dairy foods and cardiovascular disease risk.

Summary: Cow's milk is a nutrient-dense food with potential benefits for children's nutrition, hydration, dental and bone health. While there is limited evidence regarding cognitive function, further research is needed in various areas to confirm the benefits of cow's milk consumption in primary-school-aged children.

Atrazine pollution in groundwater and raw bovine milk: Water quality, bioaccumulation and human risk assessment

Noelia Urseler et al.

Summary: This study found residual atrazine in bovine milk in Argentina and identified potential risks to human health. Children faced a higher risk, and further evaluation is required to assess the potential carcinogenic risks. Monitoring of atrazine contamination in the area is essential to evaluate its long-term impact on public health.

A comprehensive assessment of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in an Indian food basket: Levels, dietary intakes, and comparison with

Brij Mohan Sharma et al.

Summary: The study found that EDC contamination in food supplied to markets in Delhi was higher than in Dehradun. Despite lax compliance and control measures in India, dietary exposure to OCPs and PBDEs was comparable to Europe, while exposure to PCBs and dioxins was lower. This suggests that internationally harmonized policies on EDC content in food can lead to better protection of health in both developed and developing countries.

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) in food and human dietary intake: An update of the scientific literature

Neus Gonzalez et al.

Summary: It is established that dietary intake is the main route of human exposure to PCDD/Fs for non-occupationally exposed populations. Recent studies have focused on determining levels of PCDD/Fs in food samples of different origins and their dietary intake. Reductions in environmental emissions of PCDD/Fs have led to decreases in both food samples and biological tissues. Overall, current data shows that tolerable daily/weekly/monthly dietary intakes of PCDD/Fs are not being exceeded.

Summary: This paper reviews recent studies on the concentrations of As, Cd, Hg, and Pb in cow milk from different countries and finds significant variations in metal levels depending on the country and specific areas of collection. Overall, human exposure to As, Cd, Hg, and Pb through frequent consumption of cow milk is not likely to pose significant health risks to consumers.
