Effect of rGO with BaCuO3 perovskite on the thermal decomposition of AP and NTO

Pragnesh N. Dave et al.

Summary: In this study, BaCuO3 perovskite-structured oxide and rGO were synthesized using a sol-gel method and ultrasonication process. Their physico-chemical characteristics were investigated and their catalytic performance was evaluated using differential thermal analysis. The presence of the catalysts showed a decrease in the decomposition peak temperature of AP and NTO.

Thermal decomposition mechanism study of 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO): Combined TG-FTIR-MS techniques and ReaxFF reactive molecular dynamics simulations

Guanchao Lan et al.

Summary: TG-FTIR-MS techniques and ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations were used to identify the main thermal decomposition intermediate and final products of 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO). The study results showed the main intermediate products and final gas products, as well as the main chemical reactions during NTO thermal decomposition. Three main decomposition paths of NTO were obtained based on the generation time of intermediate products and final products. According to experimental and simulation results, the thermal decomposition mechanisms of NTO were determined.

Learning to fly: thermochemistry of energetic materials by modified thermogravimetric analysis and highly accurate quantum chemical calculations

Nikita V. Muravyev et al.

Summary: The study introduces a facile approach to determine solid-state formation enthalpies using high-level quantum chemical calculations and advanced thermal analysis techniques to reduce uncertainties in energetic materials. Extensive benchmarking and comparisons with empirical equations were conducted to enhance accuracy and provide valuable insights for nearly 60 species of explosives-containing compounds, achieving a maximal inaccuracy of 25 kJ mol(-1) in solid-state enthalpy determinations.

Isothermal decomposition and mechanism of N-guanylurea dinitramide

Qiong Huang et al.

Summary: The isothermal decomposition of N-guanylurea dinitramide (FOX-12) was studied, revealing a long lag phase and acceleration period. Kinetic parameters showed that the activation energy of the acceleration period was lower than that of the lag phase. Model-fitting results confirmed that FOX-12 decomposition at 120-160 degrees C follows a reaction order of n = 1/4. The estimated time for 0.1% extent of reaction at ambient temperature (25 degrees C) was about 9.8 years.
