CancerSCEM: a database of single-cell expression map across various human cancers

Jingyao Zeng et al.

Summary: The use of single-cell RNA sequencing has revealed cellular heterogeneity and immune landscape within cancers, providing essential data for tumor microenvironment studies. The CancerSCEM database integrates massive cancer scRNA-seq datasets and provides a user-friendly online analysis platform, facilitating cancer research and clinical therapy assessments.

Substitution mutational signatures in whole-genome-sequenced cancers in the UK population

Andrea Degasperi et al.

Summary: Whole-genome sequencing allows for comprehensive analysis of cancer genomes, revealing mutational signatures and DNA repair processes. This study analyzed 12,222 tumor-normal matched samples using mutational signature analysis. The results showed that tumors in each organ have a limited number of common signatures and a long tail of rare signatures, providing a practical solution for future analyses.

Characterizing genetic intra-tumor heterogeneity across 2,658 human cancer genomes

Stefan C. Dentro et al.

Summary: By extensively characterizing intra-tumor heterogeneity (ITH) across 2,658 cancer samples spanning 38 cancer types, this study found evidence of distinct subclonal expansions in nearly all informative samples, with frequent branching relationships between subclones. Positive selection of subclonal driver mutations was observed across most cancer types, indicating the importance of ITH and its drivers in tumor evolution.
