Using Human Serum Albumin Binding Affinities as a Proactive Strategy to Affect the Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics of Preclinical Drug Candidates

Jianwei Fan et al.

Summary: In this article, a new preclinical drug optimization strategy is reported, which measures the binding affinity of drug candidates with human serum albumin (HSA) to assess the increase or decrease of serum half-life. By adjusting the structure of drug candidates, the binding affinity between the drugs and HSA can be altered, thus affecting the drug's duration in the body. This strategy provides a new approach for preclinical drug optimization.

Natural Compounds as Target Biomolecules in Cellular Adhesion and Migration: From Biomolecular Stimulation to Label-Free Discovery and Bioactivity-Based Isolation

Beatrix Peter et al.

Summary: Plants and fungi produce bioactive metabolites that can benefit human health, with anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects by influencing cellular adhesion and migration. By systematically analyzing the effects of natural metabolites on adhesion and movement, as well as their role in gene expression, new label-free methods can be applied for quicker and easier screening of natural compounds, allowing for greater quantification than before. Recent studies on natural extracts affecting SARS-CoV-2 treatments mainly focus on the adhesion and entry of the virus.

waveRAPID-A Robust Assay for High-Throughput Kinetic Screens with the Creoptix WAVEsystem

Oender Kartal et al.

Summary: Surface-based biophysical methods like SPR and GCI are widely used in drug discovery, with the novel technology waveRAPID offering up to a 10-fold increase in throughput through a single sample injection method. This method's ability to determine kinetics from a single well makes it uniquely suitable for kinetic screening.
