Effects of liquid droplet volume and impact frequency on the integrity of Al alloy AW2014 exposed to subsonic speeds of pulsating water jets

Jakub Poloprudsky et al.

Summary: This study focuses on analyzing the surface material integrity of an aluminum alloy after periodic impingement of liquid droplets, with comparisons made to the effects of continuous water jet. The results show that controlling the number of water droplet impacts and enhancing surface treatments can achieve surface strengthening without erosion.

Mechanism and application of laser cleaning: A review

Guodon Zhu et al.

Summary: Laser cleaning is a promising technology with green, environmentally friendly, and efficient features that can replace traditional cleaning processes. This paper elaborates on the specific action mechanism of three laser methods and discusses the effects of essential laser parameters on the cleaning effect. It also presents the typical applications and cleaning process parameters of pulse laser technology in various industries. The existing problems and future development trends of laser cleaning are pointed out, providing essential engineering practical value for clarifying the multi-action mechanism between laser and the cleaned object and establishing the cleaning process database.

Surface and Subsurface Analysis of Stainless Steel and Titanium Alloys Exposed to Ultrasonic Pulsating Water Jet

Jakub Poloprudsky et al.

Summary: The study of pulsating water jet on AISI 316L stainless steel and Ti6Al4V titanium alloy surfaces revealed differences in surface microstructure changes and dislocation density. The Ti alloy exhibited intense dislocation slip on parallel slip planes, while the austenitic steel showed mechanical twinning combined with dislocation slip as surface origin features.
