Contributing factors included low socioeconomic status, high stress, severe pain, and severe depression. Determinants of perceived health and unmet healthcare needs in universal healthcare systems with high gender equality

Summary: The study found that individual social factors and gender differences can influence self-reported overall health and access to healthcare in Canada and Austria, two countries with similar healthcare systems and high gender equality. Residents in both countries reported high perceived health and low unmet healthcare needs. Gender and social factors like marital status were associated with health and healthcare access, with different impacts observed in different countries.

Factors Influencing Unmet Healthcare Needs among Older Korean Women

Summary: This study found that 9.7% of older women in Korea reported unmet healthcare needs in the past year, mainly due to inconvenient transportation, financial burden, and mild symptoms. There were significant differences in reasons for unmet healthcare needs according to age group and residential area. Factors influencing unmet healthcare needs included residential area, living alone, lower family income, lower educational level, difficulty with daily activities, hypertension and diabetes, and poor subjective health. Older women living alone in urban and rural areas in Korea had more unmet healthcare needs compared to those living with others. Efforts to improve transportation and medical facilities are needed to address these unmet healthcare needs.
