Susceptibility baseline of Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera: Aphididae) to the novel insecticide afidopyropen in China

Dandan Shi et al.

Summary: Afidopyropen is an effective novel insecticide with high toxicity to adult Aphis gossypii, with LC50 values ranging widely. Cotton plant-collected A. gossypii showed higher tolerance to Afidopyropen, indicating potential resistance development in the future.

Exposure to a sublethal dose of imidacloprid induces cellular and physiological changes in Periplaneta americana: Involvement of α2 nicotinic acetylcholine subunit in imidacloprid sensitivity

Alexandre Bantz et al.

Summary: The study aims to demonstrate that subchronic exposure to a sublethal dose of neonicotinoid imidacloprid can induce molecular changes leading to a loss of imidacloprid sensitivity. Results from experiments on cockroaches show that exposure to sublethal dose of imidacloprid induces slight changes in detoxification enzyme activity and a significant decrease in nicotinic acetylcholine alpha 2 mRNA, resulting in decreased sensitivity to imidacloprid.

Insecticide resistance and resistance mechanisms in the melon aphid, Aphis gossypii, in Shandong, China

Zi-Jian Wang et al.

Summary: Levels of resistance to imidacloprid, acetamiprid, and lambda-cyhalothrin varied among 20 populations of melon aphids. Mutations in the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor gene were detected in some populations with moderate resistance. Upregulation of certain detoxification enzyme genes was observed in multiple resistant populations. These findings provide valuable insights for developing more effective resistance management strategies for A. gossypii.

Ecological effect assessment by species sensitivity distribution for 38 pesticides with various modes of action

Takashi Nagai

Summary: The study found that the predicted no-effect concentrations for the majority of pesticides were within a ten-fold difference from the registration criteria, but certain fungicides and herbicides had differences exceeding tenfold, indicating a potential underestimation of their effects by the current assessment scheme.

Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles with black rice (Oryza sativa L.) extract endowing carboxymethyl chitosan modified cotton with high anti-microbial and durable properties

Zhicai Yu et al.

Summary: The study developed an eco-friendly method for durable antibacterial textile production by in situ green synthesis and deposition of Ag NPs on CMCTS modified cotton fabric, using AgNO3 and black rice extract as precursor solution and natural reductant. The synthesized Ag NPs showed even deposition on cotton fibers with great washing resistance and robust hydrophobic properties, imparting the fabric with excellent antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
