Recent advances in enzyme immobilization based on nanoflowers

Kang Xu et al.

Summary: Enzyme immobilization technologies aim to create reusable enzymes with improved properties for industrial applications. However, traditional immobilization methods often result in reduced enzyme activity compared to free enzymes. The recently developed hierarchical Nanoflowers (NFs) technology offers a promising alternative with enhanced loading capacity and high specific surface area. Recent research has demonstrated its cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness in enzyme immobilization. This review focuses on the recent advances and applications of environmentally benign hierarchical NFs in enzyme immobilization.

ZnO NPs immobilized by Alizarin as in vitro predictive and imaging biomarkers for protein amyloidosis

Kleoniki Giannousi et al.

Summary: The study synthesized hexagonal shaped ZnO nanoparticles and further immobilized them with alizarin molecules, which can be used for combating amyloidosis, as well as showing imaging and antioxidant activities. The immobilized ZnO@Alzn NPs were found to inhibit in vitro formation of insulin amyloids, while also demonstrating imaging and antioxidant functionalities.

Eggshell membrane as feedstock in enzyme immobilization

A. M. Girelli et al.

Summary: Using eggshell membrane as a carrier for laccase immobilization showed high efficiency and residual activity. The immobilization of periodate-oxidized laccase on NiCl2-pretreated eggshell membrane was the best method for enzyme immobilization.
