NOMA Joint Decoding based on Soft-Output Ordered-Statistics Decoder for Short Block Codes

Summary: In this paper, a joint decoding (JD) scheme is proposed for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems using short block length codes. The scheme includes a low-complexity soft-output ordered-statistics decoding (LC-SOSD) and a JD receiver combining parallel interference cancellation (PIC) and LC-SOSD. Two techniques, decoding switch (DS) and decoding combiner (DC), are introduced to accelerate the convergence speed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed receiver achieves a lower bit-error rate (BER) with a reduced complexity.
