Theoretical screening into Ru-doped MoS2 monolayer as a promising gas sensor upon SO2 and SOF2 in SF6 insulation devices

Guozhi Zhang et al.

Summary: This article explores the sensing and adsorption behaviors of Ru-doped MoS2 monolayer upon SO2 and SOF2 gases in SF6 insulation device. The simulation results show chemisorption for SO2 and physisorption for SOF2. The article also highlights the potential of Ru-MoS2 monolayer as a sensing material for detecting SO2 and scavenging SOF2, as well as the importance of frontier molecular orbital theory in promoting the steady operation of power systems.

Adsorption and sensing performances of transition metal (Ag, Pd, Pt, Rh, and Ru) modified WSe2 monolayer upon SF6 decomposition gases (SOF2 and SO2F2)

Zhicheng Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption of SF6 decomposition products on transition metal modified WSe2 was explored. The results showed that while certain modified systems were sensitive to gases, the five modified systems studied were not suitable for gas-sensing equipment in relation to SF6 decomposition products. Other modified systems can be used to detect gases by measuring the change in conductivity after adsorption.

Virtual Alternating Current Measurements Advance Semiconductor Gas Sensors' Performance in the Internet of Things

Dawei Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new technique called virtual alternating current (ac) measurements to enable semiconductor gas sensors to achieve high linear response, stable baseline, and easily calibrated temperature and humidity fluctuation. The universality and feasibility of the technique were verified on a range of sensing elements and analytes, expanding the scope of available semiconductor gas sensor types. The technique is expected to greatly improve the performance of gas sensing nodes in the IoT.

Detection and analysis of spark discharge products of C5F10O by electron attachment mass spectrometry

Xiaonan Wang et al.

Summary: C5F10O shows promise as a replacement for SF6 in switchgears due to its high breakdown field strength and low global warming potential potential, but its chemical characteristics and discharge products are not well understood, hindering evaluation of its insulating capability and the development of gas sensors. The use of electron attachment mass spectrometry to detect the decomposed products of C5F10O revealed potential indicator species for monitoring insulation deterioration in switchgears.

Adsorption of SF6 decomposition gases (H2S, SO2, SOF2 and SO2F2) on Sc-doped MoS2 surface: A DFT study

Baoliang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption behaviors of four typical SF6 decomposing gases on MoS2 and Sc-MoS2 surfaces were investigated using density functional theory. It was found that Sc-MoS2 has excellent adsorption properties for SO2, SOF2, and SO2F2, but weak adsorption for H2S. The introduction of Sc atom as the active center significantly enhanced the adsorption effect for target gases.
