Altering the Multimodal Resonance in Ultrathin Silicon Ring for Tunable THz Biosensing

Mohd Salman Khan et al.

Summary: A technique is implemented to alter the multimodal resonance of an ultrathin silicon ring resonator-based terahertz absorber, achieving tunability and perfect absorption with the placement of a non-resonant graphene ring. The proposed absorber serves as a biosensor for detecting malaria virus and glucose percentage in water, showing high sensitivity and quality factors in both lower and upper bands during analyte thickness and refractive index sensing. The structure is also insensitive to the polarization angle of the incident electromagnetic wave.

Detection of Blood Glucose With Hemoglobin Content Using Compact Photonic Crystal Fiber

Dhinakaran Vijayalakshmi et al.

Summary: The proposed Twin Elliptical Core Photonic Crystal Fiber (TEC-PCF) sensor allows for enhanced sensitivity in detecting a wide range of blood glucose levels with small fiber lengths, by adjusting hemoglobin concentrations. Studies show that by varying hemoglobin levels, the sensor can achieve maximum wavelength sensitivity and a low limit of detection, making it suitable for next-generation biosensor applications when integrated with microfluidic systems.

Optimization of Gold Nanorod Features for the Enhanced Performance of Plasmonic Nanocavity Arrays

Marianna Beiderman et al.

Summary: The study investigated how the aspect ratio (AR) and surface area (SA) of gold nanorods (GNRs) modify the plasmonic resonance spectrum of a gold triangular nanocavity array. Results showed that adjusting these parameters can optimize signal suppression and shifting for enhanced plasmonic biosensing.

Maximal interaction of electromagnetic radiation with corona virions

Constantinos Valagiannopoulos et al.

Summary: Absorption and scattering of electromagnetic waves are fundamental operations governing the energy exchange of particles with their environment. Research on optical extinction resonances in coronaviruses at mid-infrared range shows little impact from changes in size or host background, providing insights for interactions of photonic radiation with viral particles.
