Vehicle Trajectory Prediction and Cut-In Collision Warning Model in a Connected Vehicle Environment

Nengchao Lyu et al.

Summary: This study establishes a collision warning model in a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication environment to improve the effectiveness of advanced driving assistant systems (ADAS) in cut-in scenarios. Using support vector machine-recursive feature elimination and long short-term memory models, the study predicts lane-change behavior and driving trajectories, while incorporating an oriented bounding box detection algorithm to establish a collision warning model.

A Simulation Study on Effects of Platooning Gaps on Drivers of Conventional Vehicles in Highway Merging Situations

Maytheewat Aramrattana et al.

Summary: Platooning involves a group of vehicles driving closely with the help of V2V communication and vehicle automation. Challenges arise when conventional vehicles without these technologies cut into a platoon. A simulation study showed that a 15-meter gap may prevent most participants from cutting in but could lead to dangerous maneuvers, while a platooning gap of at least 30 meters received positive feedback and facilitated smoother cut-in maneuvers with fewer collisions.

Modeling of Driver Cut-in Behavior Towards a Platoon

Yun Lu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a platoon-oriented cut-in behavior model that simulates driver behavior of cutting into a platoon by integrating lateral and longitudinal control models into a cognitive architecture. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model in simulating cut-in behavior in various driving scenarios.

A Distributed Platoon Control Framework for Connected Automated Vehicles in an Urban Traffic Network

Bohui Wang et al.

Summary: This article introduces a two-stage distributed platoon control strategy for connected automated vehicles (CAVs) to safely and fuel economically cross a road link. The strategy involves quickly forming a platoon in the first stage and estimating the leader vehicle's acceleration adjustment in the second stage to ensure safe junction crossing and minimize fuel consumption for the entire platoon.

Human Behavior Model-Based Predictive Control of Longitudinal Brain-Controlled Driving

Yun Lu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new predictive control method to improve the longitudinal driving performance of brain-controlled vehicles, focusing on maintaining rear-end safety and driver ride comfort while ensuring maximum control authority for brain-control drivers. Driver-and-hardware-in-the-loop experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in preserving rear-end safety, driver ride comfort, and driver intention.

Modelling lane-changing execution behaviour in a connected environment: A grouped random parameters with heterogeneity-in-means approach

Yasir Ali et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of a connected environment on lane-changing execution time, finding that drivers in a connected environment take more time to complete their lane-changing maneuvers, indicating safer behavior. Communication delay has a more detrimental effect on mandatory lane-changing maneuvers.
