Yihui Zhao et al.

Summary: This article proposes an adaptive cooperative control strategy for a wrist exoskeleton based on a real-time joint impedance estimation approach. By interpreting the underlying transformation in the muscular and skeletal systems, the proposed approach estimates the motion intention and the joint impedance of a human subject simultaneously without additional calibration procedures. Results indicate the proposed method outperforms other training protocols and enhances the training effectiveness and the interaction safety.

An approximate stochastic optimal control framework to simulate nonlinear neuro-musculoskeletal models in the presence of noise

Tom Van Wouwe et al.

Summary: Model-based simulations have shown that both musculoskeletal dynamics and physiological noise are important factors in movement control. However, current computational tools limit deterministic simulations to focus on accurate modeling of the musculoskeletal system while neglecting physiological noise, while stochastic simulations simplify dynamics while accounting for noise. We present a novel simulation framework that combines the advantages of both deterministic and stochastic approaches, allowing for predictions of motor coordination and movement patterns in the presence of both musculoskeletal dynamics and physiological noise.
