Fairness-Based Packing of Industrial IoT Data in Permissioned Blockchains

Shan Jiang et al.

Summary: This article introduces Fair-Pack, the first fairness-based transaction packing algorithm for permissioned blockchain empowered IIoT systems. Through theoretical analysis, it is found that fairness is positively related to the sum of waiting times of the selected transactions. Fair-Pack shows significant superiority in experiments, being not only time-efficient, but also outperforming existing algorithms in terms of both fairness and average transaction response time.

I-ViSE: Interactive Video Surveillance as an Edge Service Using Unsupervised Feature Queries

Seyed Yahya Nikouei et al.

Summary: Situation awareness (SAW) is crucial for mission-critical applications, but identifying objects of interest or suspicious activities in thousands of video frames can be challenging. This article introduces an interactive video surveillance system (I-ViSE) based on unsupervised feature queries, utilizing general features of the human body and clothing color for scene and target recognition. The experimental results show the I-ViSE scheme meets the design goal of recognizing scenes and analyzing targets in less than 2 seconds.
