Rotation Equivariant Feature Image Pyramid Network for Object Detection in Optical Remote Sensing Imagery

Pourya Shamsolmoali et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel image pyramid network based on rotation equivariance convolution to tackle the challenge of extracting features for small-scale objects in current object detectors. The proposed model combines a single-shot detector with a lightweight image pyramid module, allowing for feature extraction across various scales and orientations in an optimized manner.

Oriented Bounding Boxes for Small and Freely Rotated Objects

Mohsen Zand et al.

Summary: The proposed novel object detection method can handle freely rotated objects of arbitrary sizes, including tiny objects as small as 2 x 2 pixels. It uses a convolutional neural network (CNN) approach without external resources like anchor boxes, encodes location and orientation information by classification, and improves performance over existing state-of-the-art methods on data sets such as xView and DOTA.

Learning hyperspectral images from RGB images via a coarse-to-fine CNN

Shaohui Mei et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method for reconstructing hyperspectral images (HSIs) using convolutional neural network (CNN) and easily acquired RGB images. The proposed SSR-Net can predict HSIs from RGB images without prior knowledge, and outperforms traditional methods in terms of HSI quality and classification performance.

Rotation-Invariant Feature Learning in VHR Optical Remote Sensing Images via Nested Siamese Structure With Double Center Loss

Ruoqiao Jiang et al.

Summary: Rotation-invariant features are crucial for object detection and image classification in very-high-resolution optical remote sensing images. This article introduces a nested Siamese structure (NSS) to effectively train a multibranch convolutional neural network (mCNN) for learning rotation-invariant features. The proposed NSS, trained with a double center loss (DCL) function, outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms even with limited training samples.
