Geometrical Optics-Based Advanced Design of an Open Cavity Resonant Antenna

Summary: This study combines geometrical optics-based raytracing with modal analysis to achieve an open cavity structure as an advanced variant of the resonant cavity antenna (RCA), ensuring additional ray confinement. The method demonstrates a significant improvement in gain and aperture efficiency, resulting in improved radiation properties without compromising cross-polarization characteristics. The proposed concept shows promising commercial viability and advantageous features.
