Chirality-Intrigged Spin-Selective Metasurface and Applications in Generating Orbital Angular Momentum

Menglan Lin et al.

Summary: This article proposes a novel design of a metamirror that achieves spin-selective absorption and phase modulation by using asymmetric split-ring resonators (ASRRs) and introducing a geometric phase. Theoretical results show that the maximum absorption rate for waves of the same handedness can reach 99.34%. Experimental verification demonstrates the spin-dependent bifunctional performances of the proposed metamirror.

A Wideband OAM Antenna Based on Chiral Harmonic Diffraction

Juan-Feng Zhu et al.

Summary: This letter demonstrates an orbital angular momentum (OAM) antenna based on chiral harmonic diffraction of spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPP), transforming SSPP into high-purity OAM mode. The system achieves frequency-controlled beam-scanning characteristic and operates in a wide bandwidth. The compact, easy-fabricated, and robust OAM antenna opens up new possibilities for wireless communication applications.

Simple and Accurate Electromagnetic Characterization of Omega-Class Bianisotropic Metamaterials Using the State Transition Matrix Method

Ugur C. Hasar et al.

Summary: The proposed microwave extraction procedure allows for full electromagnetic characterization of Omega-class bianisotropic metamaterial (MM) slabs using TE1, TE2, and TE3 modes without the need for numerical analysis and optimization toolbox. The method's closed-form nature and minimal requirement of seven S-parameters demonstrate its advantage over other methods, and its accuracy was validated through electromagnetic simulation.

Determination of Constitutive Parameters of Strong-Coupled Bianisotropic Metamaterials Using Oblique Incidence Scattering Parameters

Gokhan Ozturk et al.

Summary: An attractive extraction method has been proposed to determine all constitutive parameters of diagonal permittivity and permeability tensors in addition to the coupling term of omega-type bianisotropic metamaterial slabs. The noniterative and less-requirement features of this method surpass other similar methods in the literature. Additional analyses were performed to test dependencies of the method on incidence angle and the number of cells and to investigate whether it retrieves a unique solution.

A Novel DGTD Method Based on the Current Density Equation for Magnetized Cold Plasma

Qian Yang et al.

Summary: A discontinuous Galerkin time-domain method based on the current density equation in a 3-D case is proposed for simulating electromagnetic waves in magnetized plasma. The algorithm avoids additional data storage and has a relatively high calculation speed, making it applicable for practical use. The algorithm is validated through numerical examples such as the Faraday rotation effect test and time-varying example.

Humidity Effects According to the Type of Carbon Nanotubes

Yongwoo Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigated the humidity effects and mechanisms of semiconducting and metallic carbon nanotubes (s-CNTs and m-CNTs), respectively, in depth, and fabricated humidity sensors based on CNT network films. The sensors showed different responses to humidity, with the s-CNT-based sensor exhibiting a decrease in resistance with increasing humidity, while the m-CNT-based sensor showed the opposite trend. These findings can serve as design guidelines for CNT-based humidity sensors.
