Summary: Modern medical clinics use computer systems to support medical examinations and detect potential health problems more efficiently. Deep learning approaches have been proven to provide the most precise results in evaluating CT brain scans. In this article, a novel correlation learning mechanism (CLM) is proposed to combine convolutional neural network (CNN) with classic architecture. The support neural network helps CNN to optimize pooling and convolution layers, resulting in faster learning and higher efficiency of the main neural classifier.

Summary: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the leading cause of functional frailty in humans, emphasizing the need for timely diagnosis and treatment. This study proposes a 2D-CNN network and a new biomarker based on wavelet coherence (WCOH) to automate the detection of MDD using EEG signals from the default mode network (DMN) regions in the brain. The results demonstrate high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, suggesting the potential use of DMN-based WCOH as a biomarker and the reliability of the proposed 2D-CNN for MDD diagnosis.

Summary: This research explores the implementation strategies of human activity recognition in smart homes, including the sensors and sensing technologies used to collect data from IoT devices, preprocessing and feature extraction techniques, and classification algorithms for recognizing human activities. It suggests that IoT sensor technology for recognizing human activity in a smart home is feasible and efficient, but faces challenges such as insufficient and imbalanced data, annotation scarcity, and computational complexity. The study recommends associating sensor data with time-based labels to reduce computing overhead and improve activity recognition.

Summary: Approximately 15.6% of confirmed COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic. Nearly half of the patients with no symptoms at detection time will develop symptoms later. Children are likely to have a higher proportion of asymptomatic infection than adults. Asymptomatic COVID-19 patients could have abnormal laboratory and radiational manifestations, which can be used as screening strategies to identify asymptomatic infection.

Summary: This study investigates the vulnerability of DNNs in medical image classification to adversarial attacks, specifically focusing on the impact of universal adversarial perturbation (UAP). The results show that DNNs are susceptible to both non-targeted and targeted UAPs, with almost imperceptible UAPs achieving high success rates. The vulnerability to UAP is not highly dependent on model architecture, and adversarial retraining has limited effectiveness in improving robustness.
