Highly Efficient Full-Duplex Coherent Optical System Enabled by Combined Use of Optical Injection Locking and Frequency Comb

Haipeng Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel point-to-point coherent optical link based on optical frequency comb and injection-locking optical process has been proposed, enabling full-duplex transmission over fiber links up to 100 km. Experimental results show successful full-duplex operation using QPSK up to 100 km with penalty at HD-FEC and SD-FEC thresholds, and using 16QAM up to 80 km with penalties observed at the FEC thresholds.

Point-to-Multipoint Optical Networks Using Coherent Digital Subcarriers

Dave Welch et al.

Summary: A paradigm shift in optical communication networks is proposed with the introduction of a new ecosystem of devices, transforming current point-to-point optical networks into flexible, scalable, and cost-effective point-to-multipoint networks. Interoperability across transceivers operating at different speeds is achieved using digitally generated subcarriers, leading to significant cost savings and network simplification.
