Summary: With the rapid development of microwave photonic functionalities to support 5G and defense systems, there has been increased interest in utilizing SBS-based functionalities to perform tasks that are difficult to achieve with conventional electronic devices. Advances have been made using on-chip SBS to demonstrate RF frequency phase shifters, filters, measurement systems, and delay lines, while also providing design guidelines and insights on design trade-offs.

Field Experiment of Photonic Radar for Low-RCS Target Detection and High-Resolution Image Acquisition

Summary: In this paper, a photonic radar is designed and implemented for low radar cross-section target detection and high-resolution image acquisition. The results show that the implemented photonic radar can successfully detect a moving drone and obtain its high-resolution image in real-time, even when the drone is 2.7 km away from the radar.
