Noise Suppression for Vector Magnetic Anomaly Detection by Noise Spatial Characteristics Investigation

Ying Shen et al.

Summary: This method suppresses noise in vector magnetic anomaly detection by analyzing noise spatial characteristics and finding a projection direction with minimum fluctuations for the projected noise. By processing the projected signal with a vector orthogonal basis functions (OBFs) detector, a 3 dB higher signal to noise ratio (SNR) is achieved compared to traditional OBFs filters, effectively suppressing low-frequency noise and obtaining weak target signals.

Frequency Characteristics Analysis for Magnetic Anomaly Detection

Jiazeng Wang et al.

Summary: This letter presents a frequency characteristics analysis for a magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) study, which develops a magnetic dipole model and defines the high-frequency boundary of the signal. The study analyzes the relations between different parameters and proposes a function for frequency boundary estimation with a maximum value of approximately 0.85.

Adaptive Magnetic Anomaly Detection Method Using Support Vector Machine

Liming Fan et al.

Summary: Magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) is widely used for detecting magnetic targets, but its performance decreases in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) situations. To address this issue, we propose an adaptive MAD method using support vector machine (SVM) and validate its performance with real magnetic noise, showing improved detection performance compared to traditional methods.

Denoising of piecewise constant signal based on total variation

Donghao Lv et al.

Summary: The Total Variation Denoising (TVD) algorithm is suitable for restoring piecewise constant signals (PCS). The accuracy of amplitude at discontinuities affects the overall denoising effect. Recent research has proposed TVD-based algorithms to improve denoising accuracy. This paper introduces a new upper bound function to enhance the accuracy of the traditional TVD method and updates the TVD-based algorithm to improve denoising efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method in PCS denoising.

Anomaly detection of complex magnetic measurements using structured Hankel low-rank modeling and singular value decomposition

Xinglin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel structured low-rank decomposition-based magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) method is proposed to improve the performance of MAD with a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The results show that the proposed method can effectively suppress noise and retain boundary information of magnetic anomalies.
