Summary: This research developed a method to estimate the spatially and temporally resolved moisture content of thermally modified Scots pine using hyperspectral time series imaging and partial least squares regression. By spatially segmenting the images to separate early- and latewood regions, a model for modeling the average moisture content of thermally modified pine was established.

Results showed that the best models for estimating wood moisture were developed from NIR spectra recorded on the transverse surface produced with the band saw by integrating sphere method.
