Polysaccharide hemostatic powder to prevent bleeding after endoscopic submucosal dissection in high risk patients: a randomized controlled trial

Da Hyun Jung et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of polysaccharide hemostatic powder (PHP) in preventing post-ESD bleeding, but found that PHP did not demonstrate a significant effect in preventing post-ESD bleeding. Further larger scale, randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Prediction model for bleeding after endoscopic submucosal dissection of gastric neoplasms from a high-volume center

Yeon Hwa Choe et al.

Summary: This study developed a predictive tree model based on three risk factors to identify patients at high risk of bleeding after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The main risk factors identified were ongoing antithrombotic use, resected specimen size >= 49 mm, and patient age <62 years. The accuracy of the model was high, allowing clinicians to establish precise management strategies and prevent post-ESD bleeding.

Systematic Endoscopic Approach to Early Gastric Cancer in Clinical Practice

Gwang Ha Kim

Summary: Early gastric cancers (EGCs) are defined as gastric cancers confined to the mucosa or submucosa, regardless of regional lymph node metastasis. The shift from surgical resection to endoscopic resection for selected EGCs is accelerating due to increased screening endoscopy. Successful endoscopic resection of EGCs requires early detection and accurate prediction of histological type, depth of invasion, and horizontal margins.
