UV-Curable Bio-Based Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives: Tuning the Properties by Incorporating Liquid-Phase Alkali Lignin-Acrylates

Rhiya Paul et al.

Summary: A bio-sourced UV-curable pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) with a high biomass content has been developed. The addition of alkali-lignin-based acrylates (LAs) in the PSA system can tune the functional properties for removable applications. The incorporation of 20% LAs can provide suitable tackiness and peel strength for nonstructural or semistructural applications. Proper tuning of lignin content and modifications can replace petroleum-sourced PSAs.

Lignin-Based Additives for Improved Thermo-Oxidative Stability of Biolubricants

Monika A. Jedrzejczyk et al.

Summary: Biobased lubricants, such as vegetable oils, are environmentally friendly alternatives to petroleum-based lubricants, but their lack of thermo-oxidative stability limits their applications. This study demonstrates the successful incorporation of lignin-based antioxidants in biolubricant formulations, improving their thermo-oxidative stability and lubricating properties.
