Systematic study of the effect of the co-solvent on the performance of amine-based solvents for CO2 capture

Ismail I. I. Alkhatib et al.

Summary: Aqueous amines technology is mature for large-scale CO2 capture, but high energy regeneration remains a drawback. Water-free and water-lean solvents are attractive alternatives to reduce regeneration energy, with ethylene glycol showing promise as a co-solvent for minimizing CO2 solubility reduction and decreasing enthalpy of absorption. Systematic studies on the effect of co-solvent on thermodynamic properties for optimizing the separation process are needed.

A study of kinetics, equilibrium solubility, speciation and thermodynamics of CO2 absorption into benzylamine (BZA) solution

Wenchao Zheng et al.

Summary: The kinetics between BZA and CO2 were investigated using a stopped-flow apparatus, and the results showed that the predicted CO2 absorption rate agreed well with the experimental data. NMR experiments confirmed the formation of carbamates, and a new VLE model was proposed based on the speciation data obtained from the experiments.

Response surface modelling ofCO2capture by ammonia aqueous solution in a microchannel

Pourya Asgarifard et al.

Summary: The study focused on CO(2) capture using ammonia aqueous solution in a T-shaped microchannel, with ammonia concentration being the most influential parameter followed by gas flow rate and temperature. Numerical optimization predicted the highest CO(2) capture efficiency under optimal conditions, with ammonia concentration having the greatest impact. This suggests that optimizing ammonia concentration is crucial for achieving higher CO(2) capture efficiency.

New Experimental Data on Equilibrium CO2 Loading into Aqueous 3-Dimethyl Amino-1-propanol and 1,5-Diamino-2-methylpentane Blend: Empirical Model and CO2 Absorption Enthalpy

Shweta Singh et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the equilibrium CO2 loading in a novel aqueous blend and found that the addition of a small quantity of activator 1,5-DA-2-MP significantly increased the CO2 absorption performance. An empirical model for the equilibrium CO2 loading was developed with an average absolute relative deviation % of 2.7, and the Gibbs Helmholtz equation was used to calculate the CO2 absorption enthalpy for the blend.
