Preparation and Performance of the Lipid Hydrodeoxygenation of a Nickel-Induced Graphene/HZSM-5 Catalyst

Wen Luo et al.

Summary: Graphene-encapsulated nickel nanoclusters are an effective method to inhibit the deactivation of nickel-based catalysts. Catalysts prepared with pseudo-boehmite and zirconia as binders have smaller nickel crystal size and lower agglomeration, leading to a delayed deactivation of the acid sites. In contrast to pseudo-boehmite, zirconia as a binder provides better protection for the acid sites of the catalyst.

Enhancing catalytic CH4 oxidation over Co3O4/SiO2 core-shell catalyst by substituting Co2+ with Mn2+

Haiwang Wang et al.

Summary: A core-shell flower-spheroidal cobalt-manganese composite catalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method, showing better microstructure and structure than traditional Co3O4/SiO2 catalyst, resulting in higher catalytic activity. The substitution of Mn2+ manganese ion for Co2+ in Co3O4 lattice promoted reactive oxygen species production and mobility, leading to increased methane conversion rates at both 350 degrees C and 450 degrees C compared to Co3O4/SiO2.

Gwi-Taek Jeong

Summary: This study investigated the efficient valorization of green microalgae Chlorella sp. to produce sugars and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) using thermochemical conversion with a metal-salt catalyst. By optimizing the conversion using a statistical approach, a high sugar yield of 86.46% and a maximum 5-HMF yield of 37.23% were achieved. The results demonstrate the potential of microalgae and ferric sulfate as catalyst to produce biosugars and platform chemicals.
