Wei Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fuel distribution and combustion process of a high-pressure direct injection diesel Wankel engine under different fuel injection angles. The numerical results show that increasing the fuel injection angle improves power performance, accelerates combustion rate, and reduces emissions. The optimal fuel injection angle is found to be 65 degrees, which increases peak pressure, reduces combustion duration, and decreases soot and carbon dioxide emissions.

European dieselization: Policy insights from EU car trade

Ignacio del Rosal

Summary: This paper contributes to the literature on dieselization by analyzing EU international trade flows in passenger cars. The research finds that most diesel trade flows occur between EU countries, but diesel imports from non-EU countries are also significant. The competitiveness of the EU car industry is based on petrol cars. The analysis also reveals an increase in car size. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of demand policies in addition to efficiency gains for decarbonization strategies. The phenomenon of dieselization raises awareness of the inertia that road transport policies can have and the need for coordination with other relevant countries in the international car market.

Structure and stability characteristics of turbulent planar flames with inhomogeneous jet in a concentric flow slot burner

Mohy S. Mansour et al.

Summary: The study found strong correlations between flame stability and the range and fluctuations of mixture fraction in the mixing field. Flames are highly stabilized within a mixing field environment with fluctuation range near the flammability limits. The mixing field structure is illustrated using a mixing regime diagram, showing consistent scatter of data among different cases with classified mixing regimes. The flame front structure varies with turbulence level and equivalence ratio, displaying different curvature and thickness depending on the conditions.

Experimental study on the combustion characteristics of premixed methane-hydrogen-air mixtures in a spherical closed chamber

Yanfei Li et al.

Summary: In this study, premixed combustion experiments were conducted on methane-hydrogen-air mixtures to analyze the flame characteristics, combustion pressure, and ion current signal. The addition of hydrogen influenced the flame front structure and flame stability. The concentration of hydrogen had a significant impact on flame speed and ion current signal under both dilute and rich hydrogen conditions. Turbulence accelerated combustion velocity and resulted in earlier peak combustion pressure, but the difference between peak pressures in laminar and turbulent environments decreased with the addition of hydrogen.
