H2-rich syngas production from air gasification of date palm waste: an experimental and modeling investigation

Mohammad R. Kabli et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of generating energy (syngas) from Saudi Arabian date palm fronds through air gasification and analyzes the mass and energy flows of the system. The results show that as temperature and air flowrate increase, the concentration of H-2 increases, and the higher heating value, carbon conversion efficiency, and cold gas efficiency of the syngas also increase.

Process optimization and economic evaluation of air gasification of Saudi Arabian date palm fronds for H2-rich syngas using response surface methodology

Arshid M. Ali et al.

Summary: This study optimized the air gasification process of date palm fronds (DPF) and evaluated its economic feasibility. The results showed that temperature was the most influential factor for H-2 composition, while feedstock particle size had the greatest impact on CO2 composition. The optimal conditions for maximizing H-2 and CO compositions were determined to be 900°C temperature, 1 l/min air flowrate, and 6 mm feedstock particle size.

Thermodynamic analysis of a parabolic trough solar power plant integrated with a biomass-based hydrogen production system

Mehmet Emre Burulday et al.

Summary: This study investigates a solar energy power plant integrated with a biomass-based hydrogen production system. High-purity hydrogen is obtained from biomass-based syngas using thermochemical processes. The plant is simulated using Aspen HYSYS software, and the thermodynamic performance of the hybrid system is evaluated using exergy analysis. The results show that designing and operating a hybrid high-performance energy system using two different renewable sources is an encouraging approach to reduce the environmental impact of energy conversion processes and effectively utilize energy resources.

Heat integration modeling of hydrogen production from date seeds via steam gasification

Abrar Inayat et al.

Summary: The study aims to identify the potential of energy-efficient hydrogen production from date seeds in Gulf countries via steam gasification process and heat integration. The reaction kinetics model and heat integration model were established using MATLAB software, showing positive effects of temperature and steam/biomass ratio on H-2 production. Utilization of waste heat within the system reduced external heat load and more than 70% of energy was recovered for gasification and steam production, making the process a prospective approach for sustainable hydrogen production from date seeds.
