Shadow and weak deflection angle of extended uncertainty principle black hole surrounded with dark matter

Reggie C. Pantig et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the possible effects of dark matter on a Schwarzschild black hole with the correction of extended uncertainty principle (EUP), finding that the black hole temperature is independent of any dark matter concentration and a greater dark matter density is needed to have remarkable effects on null orbits.

Nonlinear electrodynamics effects on the black hole shadow, deflection angle, quasinormal modes and greybody factors

M. Okyay et al.

Summary: In this paper, the effects of nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) on non-rotating black holes are discussed, including various observable and physical properties. It is found that the NED black hole is always surrounded by an event horizon and any magnetic charge is permissible. The black hole gets colder with increasing charge, and the observed shadow radius is strongly affected by the magnetic charge parameter P. The introduction of charge steepens the greybody factor of the black hole.

Strong gravitational lensing and shadow constraint from M87*of slowly rotating Kerr-like black hole

Summary: Motivated by the recent EHT observations and the possibility of Lorentz symmetry being broken in gravity, this study applies the Einstein bumblebee gravity with Lorentz violation to investigate the strong gravitational lensing effect and black hole shadow. The results show significant effects of the Lorentz violation parameter on lensing observables and the luminosity of the black hole shadow.

Constraining a modified gravity theory in strong gravitational lensing and black hole shadow observations

Xiao-Mei Kuang et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the strong gravitational lensing effect around rotating black holes in different gravity theories. We evaluate the lensing observables, including image position, separation, magnification, and time delays, to distinguish between modified gravity (MOG) theory and general relativity (GR). We also analyze the shadow observables and obtain a constraint on the MOG parameter based on Event Horizon Telescope observations.

Photon regions, shadow observables, and constraints from M87*of a charged rotating black hole

Yuan Meng et al.

Summary: Inspired by EHT observations of M87*, this paper explores a charged rotating black hole in conformal gravity, revealing its spacetime properties and characteristic shadow observables. Comparisons with Kerr and KN black holes show that constraints on M87* parameters are satisfied across the entire parameter space of the charged rotating black hole, but the shadow angular diameter provides an upper bound. These findings suggest that the current charged rotating black hole in conformal gravity could be a candidate for astrophysical black holes, and EHT observations may help distinguish it from a Kerr black hole in some parameter space.

Galactic rotation curves versus ultralight dark matter: A systematic comparison with SPARC data

Nitsan Bar et al.

Summary: This study presents observational constraints on the imprint of ultralight dark matter (ULDM) soliton cores in rotation-dominated galaxies. It disfavors the soliton-host halo relation found in numerical simulations in a broad range of ULDM particle masses. Combining these constraints with theoretical arguments, the study argues against ULDM comprising 100% of the cosmological dark matter in a specific mass range. The constraints explore the ULDM fraction down to less than 0.3 of the total dark matter.

Dark matter effect on the weak deflection angle by black holes at the center of Milky Way and M87 galaxies

Reggie C. Pantig et al.

Summary: In this paper, the effect of dark matter on the weak deflection angle by black holes at the galactic center is investigated. Three known dark matter density profiles are considered and the positional angles are measured using the Ishihara et al. method. The emergence of apparent divergent terms on the dark matter profiles is found, but they vanish when the distance from the black hole is large. The weak deflection angle varies interestingly with the impact parameter, providing insights into the interaction between dark matter and null particles.

Modeling the Sgr A* Black Hole Immersed in a Dark Matter Spike

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of a dark matter spike on the vicinity of the black hole Sgr A* in the center of the Milky Way. The study examines the influence of dark matter density on the shadow radius and image of the black hole, concluding that the effect is weak for realistic densities but may become significant at higher densities near the black hole. However, simulations with radio interferometry, similar to an EHT array, suggest that detecting this effect in the near future is unlikely.

Imprints of dark matter on black hole shadows using spherical accretions

Summary: Researchers studied the identification of dark matter in the galactic center by analyzing the physical properties of electromagnetic radiation emitted from an optically-thin disk region surrounding a static and spherically symmetric black hole. Dark matter can either increase or decrease the intensity of electromagnetic flux radiation depending on the model, with a high energy density of dark matter near the black hole needed for a significant effect. The distribution of surrounding dark matter plays a key role in the shadow radius and intensity of electromagnetic flux radiation.

By using the shadow size of M87*, constraints on the physical charges of various types of nonrotating or rotating black holes can be inferred, helping rule out certain types of highly charged black holes.
