Observation of Cooper pairs in a mesoscopic two-dimensional Fermi gas

Marvin Holten et al.

Summary: In this article, researchers successfully observed Cooper pairs directly in a mesoscopic two-dimensional Fermi gas. Using an imaging scheme, they extracted the full in situ momentum distribution of a strongly interacting Fermi gas with single-particle and spin resolution. They found Cooper pair correlations at the Fermi surface and observed that increasing attractive interactions led to the gradual formation of deeply bound molecules that broke up the Fermi surface.

Observation of pairs of atoms at opposite momenta in an equilibrium interacting Bose gas

Antoine Tenart et al.

Summary: Quantum fluctuations play a crucial role in the properties of quantum matter, leading to many-body correlations and entanglement. The observation of atom pairs in interacting Bose gas depletion allows for the characterization of equilibrium many-body states. Interacting systems acquire non-trivial quantum correlations as a result of the interplay between quantum fluctuations and interactions.

Statistical properties of the momentum occupation numbers of the Tonks-Girardeau gas in a harmonic trap

P. Devillard et al.

Summary: In this study, fluctuations of the number of bosons with a given momentum for the Tonks-Girardeau gas in a harmonic trap at zero and finite temperature were computed. It was found that correlations between opposite momentum states were suppressed, while nontrivial correlations, including negative correlations, were observed for certain momenta. The distribution of the quasicondensate occupation and its experimental relevance were also examined.
