Recent Advances in the Synthesis of Diverse Libraries of Small-Molecule Building Blocks in Ionic Liquids (ILs)

Kenneth K. Laali et al.

Summary: The authors' recent advances in synthesizing diverse libraries of small-molecule building blocks using ionic liquids (ILs) have provided new opportunities for assembling functional small molecules with increased complexity from readily available precursors. ILs can act as catalysts, solvents, and promoters in various reactions, including carbocation and onium ion chemistry, as well as base-catalyzed reactions. Several widely practiced transformations, including 'name reactions,' have been efficiently adapted and performed in ILs.

Transition Metal Catalyzed Hiyama Cross-Coupling: Recent Methodology Developments and Synthetic Applications

Rida Noor et al.

Summary: Hiyama cross-coupling is a versatile reaction that enables the construction of carbon-carbon bonds in synthetic organic chemistry. By coupling organosilicons with organic halides using transition metal catalysts, good yields and high enantioselectivities can be achieved. In recent years, researchers have made significant progress in using the Hiyama coupling reaction for the synthesis of diversified natural products and pharmaceutical drugs.
