A facile methodology using catalytic BaO for alpha-deuterating ketones, sulfoxides, sulfones and nitriles has been developed. This protocol allows for high deuterium incorporation in a single-run, with broad functional group tolerance, scalability, and applicability in preparing bioactive ketone candidates.
Herein a facile methodology of alpha-deuterating ketones, sulfoxides, sulfones and nitriles using catalytic BaO was developed. The protocol allowed high d-incorporation in a single-run with broad functional group tolerance and was scalable and applicable in preparing exemplary bioactive ketone candidates.
