Effect of the nuclearity on the catalytic performance of a series of Pd(II) complexes in the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction

Gracjan Kurpik et al.

Summary: The development of well-defined multivalent systems with densely packed multiple functional groups within a single molecular structure offers a great opportunity to enhance catalyst activity. In this study, a series of mono-, di-, and trinuclear Pd(II) complexes based on polyketonate ligands and 2,20-bipyridine were designed, synthesized, and fully characterized. The complexes, serving as scaffolds for Pd(II) active sites, exhibited differences in reaction yields and reactivity trends based on their nuclearity when applied as catalysts in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction.

Searching for highly active cobalt catalysts bearing Schiff base ligands for Markovnikov-selective hydrosilylation of alkynes with tertiary silanes

Maciej Skrodzki et al.

Summary: This study reports a stable cobalt(II) complex that exhibits high catalytic activity and selectivity in hydrosilylation reactions, with unprecedented tolerance towards tertiary silanes. The catalytic system shows high regioselectivity for a variety of alkynes, resulting in the formation of alpha-vinylsilanes.

Insights into the past and future of Janus-di-N-heterocyclic carbenes

Macarena Poyatos et al.

Summary: Janus di-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands are a subclass of poly-NHCs that feature coordination to two transition metals in a facially opposed manner, making them useful in areas such as homogeneous catalysis, materials chemistry, and supramolecular chemistry. This review aims to cover the most relevant advances in the use of Janus-di-NHCs over the last 15 years, classified by their specific structural features.

IPr# - highly hindered, broadly applicable N-heterocyclic carbenes

Qun Zhao et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis, catalytic activity, and full structural and electronic characterization of novel, sterically-bulky NHC ligands based on the hash peralkylation concept. The new ligands have been commercialized and show broad activity in various cross-coupling reactions. The generality of the approach in ligand design is demonstrated through facile synthesis of different NHC ligands.
