Combined lethal toxicity, biochemical responses, and gene expression variations induced by tebuconazole, bifenthrin and their mixture in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

Yanhua Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the combination of triazole fungicides and pyrethroid insecticides induced synergistic acute toxicity in zebrafish, affecting their antioxidant system and gene expression. Therefore, the joint effects of pesticides at low concentrations should be prioritized in mixture risk management in aquatic ecosystems. More research is needed to identify the threshold concentrations of realistic pesticide mixtures where synergistic interactions occur.

Histopathological evaluation of the interrenal gland (adrenal homolog) of Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) exposed to graphene oxide

Asok K. Dasmahapatra et al.

Summary: Graphene oxide (GO), due to its unique physicochemical properties and wide applications, is widely present in the aquatic ecosystem. This study investigated the endocrine disrupting effects of GO on the interrenal gland (IRG) of medaka fish. The results showed inconsistent changes in the nuclei and cell population of IRG after exposure to GO, depending on the exposure route, sex, and age of the fish.
