Enantioselectivity of new chiral triazole fungicide mefentrifluconazole: Bioactivity against phytopathogen, and acute toxicity and bioaccumulation in earthworm (Eisenia fetida)

Shiji Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the environmental behavior of mefentrifluconazole, a new triazole fungicide, in terms of its enantioselective bioactivity, acute toxicity, and bioaccumulation in earthworms. The results showed that R-( - )-mefentrifluconazole exhibited higher bioactivity but lower toxicity compared to its S-( + )-enantiomer. The bioaccumulation of mefentrifluconazole in earthworms was non-enantioselective and related to its adsorption onto soils. The concentrations of mefentrifluconazole in pore water and CaCl2 extraction were closely related to its accumulation in earthworms, providing useful indicators for estimating its bioavailability in soil.

Influence of multi-walled carbon nanotubes on enantioselective bioaccumulation and oxidative stress toxicity of indoxacarb in zebrafish(Danio rerio)

Bo Ren et al.

Summary: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely used in various fields due to nanotechnology advancement. A study using zebrafish as a model found MWCNTs did not change the enantioselectivity of bioaccumulation, but increased the bioaccumulation amount of R-(-)-indoxacarb. Indoxacarb caused oxidative stress toxicity in zebrafish liver, and the addition of MWCNTs enhanced its toxicity.

z Enantioselective residues and toxicity effects of the chiral triazole fungicide hexaconazole in earthworms (Eisenia fetida)

Tong Liu et al.

Summary: The study revealed significant enantioselective degradation of hexaconazole in artificial soil, with the S-enantiomer showing higher acute toxicity in earthworms than the R-enantiomer. The transcriptome sequencing results indicated that S-HEX had a more pronounced impact on various biological functions than R-HEX, suggesting a higher risk to soil organisms. These findings highlight the importance of assessing environmental risks of chiral pesticides at the enantiomeric level.

Stereochemistry of chiral pesticide uniconazole and enantioselective metabolism in rat liver microsomes

Dong Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the stereochemistry of uniconazole enantiomers and their metabolism in rat liver microsomes. Through vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy and chiral column analysis, it was found that (R)-uniconazole exhibited preferential metabolism in the rat liver microsomes compared to (S)-uniconazole, which was further confirmed by molecular docking studies showing higher binding affinity to cytochrome CYP2D2. This work provides valuable insights for the risk assessment of uniconazole on human health and the environment.
