MoS2 @PDA thin-film nanocomposite nanofiltration membrane for simultaneously improved permeability and selectivity

Fei Xie et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that the addition of nanomaterials can significantly improve the selectivity and permeability of thin-film composite membranes. In this study, polydopamine-modified molybdenum disulfide nanosheets were used as fillers to prepare thin-film nanocomposite nanofiltration membranes. The results demonstrated that the incorporation of nanosheets not only enhanced the dispersion and compatibility of the membrane, but also improved its water permeability and overcame the trade-off between permeability and selectivity. Moreover, the nanofiltration membranes exhibited excellent long-term stability.

Design principle of MoS2/C heterostructure to enhance the quantum capacitance for supercapacitor application

Samadhan Kapse et al.

Summary: This study investigated the performance of different phases of MoS2 in supercapacitors, finding that carbon nanotubes can induce a structural phase transition from 1T to 1T' phase and enhance quantum capacitance. Nitrogen doping and defects on the carbon surface further increased the quantum capacitance of the heterostructure, making 1T'-MoS2/N doped CNT a potential electrode for next-generation supercapacitors.

Nanoporous MoS2 Membrane for Water Desalination: A Molecular Dynamics Study

Peter Ozaveshe Oviroh et al.

Summary: Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as a two-dimensional material shows potential in water desalination with multilayer membranes having higher salt rejection rate compared to monolayer. As the number of layers increases, the membrane's salt rejection rate increases but with decreased permeability. Narrow layer separation plays a crucial role in effectively rejecting salt ions.

Role of Electrostatics in the Heterogeneous Interaction of Two-Dimensional Engineered MoS2 Nanosheets and Natural Clay Colloids: Influence of pH and Natural Organic Matter

Indu Venu Sabaraya et al.

Summary: This study investigates the aggregation behavior of MoS2 nanosheets with natural geocolloids and finds that pH and particle ratios play crucial roles in modulating system stability, while Suwannee River humic acid drastically suppresses heteroaggregation. The results suggest that these heterogeneous systems are highly stable under environmentally relevant conditions, which may enhance cellular uptake and long-distance transport of MoS2.
