Oxalate enhanced synergistic removal of chromium(VI) and arsenic(III) over ZnFe2O4/g-C3N4: Z-scheme charge transfer pathway and photo-Fenton like reaction

Dashi Lei et al.

Summary: The direct Z-Scheme photocatalyst was used to purify Cr(VI) and As(III) in wastewater effectively, showing complete removal within a wide pH range. During the photo reaction, the generation of Fe(II) and center dot CO2- played a crucial role in the formation of hydroxyl and superoxide radicals.

PH-dependent photochemical transformation of arsenic sulfide sludge catalyzed by Fe ions under visible light irradiation

Hongbo Lu et al.

Summary: Arsenic sulfide sludge (ASS) is a common byproduct of acid smelting wastewater, and exposure to sunlight accelerates the release and oxidation of As(III) in ASS. The presence of Fe(II)/Fe(III) ions is crucial in promoting the photo-oxidation of released As(III). Under acidic conditions, Fe(II) interacts with reductive sulfur species from ASS to accelerate the oxidation of As(III), while under neutral conditions, ferric hydroxide colloids enhance the oxidation rate through a photo-induced mechanism. These findings provide insights into predicting and controlling the behavior of arsenic-containing sludge in sunlit environments.
