Anion-induced morphology control of Al-fumarate MOFs via synergetic coordination and hydrogen bond effects for graded dehumidification

Zhenlong Guo et al.

Summary: Aluminum-fumarate based MOFs (AF-MOFs) are a flexible class of metal organic frameworks that can be tuned in terms of morphology and water adsorption properties by varying the anion components. This study demonstrates that the coordination effect between aluminum atoms in MOF units and atoms in anions (such as oxygen and nitrogen) plays a key role in controlling the morphology of AF-MOFs. Water adsorption experiments reveal that AF-MOFs induced by different anions exhibit optimal water absorption performance at different relative pressures.
