A regional-scale geochemical survey of stream sediment samples in Nappe zone, northern Tunisia: Implications for mineral exploration

Jamel Ayari et al.

Summary: By analyzing the regional geochemical data of the Nappe Zone, it was found that the Pb-Zn deposits in this area belong to two genetic types: Pb-Zn-Ba-Sr Mississippi-valley-type (MVT) and Pb-As-Sb SEDEX type. The distribution of geochemical anomalies is spatially associated with regional structures, indicating that this region has good ore potential.

Geochemical fractionation, bioavailability, and potential risk of heavy metals in sediments of the largest influent river into Chaohu Lake, China

Bingxiang Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the geochemical fractionation, bioavailability, and potential risk of five heavy metals in the Hangbu-Fengle River sediments. It found that Cd and Zn had higher bioavailability, with pH being an important factor affecting it. The results provide valuable information for assessing the potential bioavailabilities and ecological hazards of heavy metals in similar study areas.

Effects of diclofenac on the swimming behavior and antioxidant enzyme activities of the freshwater interstitial crustacean Bryocamptus pygmaeus (Crustacea, Harpacticoida)

Mattia Di Cicco et al.

Summary: Diclofenac (DCF) is a pseudo-persistent pollutant in freshwater, affecting the behavior and biochemical parameters of certain freshwater invertebrate species. Exposure to DCF may lead to a decrease in mitochondrial function and reduced energy production, impacting cell functions and total energetic budget allocated for physiological activities.

Assessment methodology applied to arsenic pollution in lake sediments combining static and dynamic processes

Limin Shu et al.

Summary: The study investigated arsenic pollution in surface sediments using the DGH model, showing low contamination and ecological risk levels in total content but low to moderate risk in the fraction. Dynamic risk assessment revealed potential DGH burst trends in 45.24%-78.57% of the BYD Lake.

Risk assessment of bioavailable heavy metals in the water and sediments in the Yongding New River, North China

Lingzuo Meng et al.

Summary: A comparative study was conducted to explore the pollution status of heavy metals in the Yongding New River of Tianjin, China, focusing on Cd and As as the main contaminants, with Cd showing the highest contamination level in the SA areas. Strong correlations were observed between As, Cu, Zn, and Hg, suggesting common sources of pollution.

Pollution characteristics and ecological risks associated with heavy metals in the Fuyang river system in North China

Jiating Zhao et al.

Summary: Through sampling and analyzing surface sediments in FRS, this study identified 12 metal pollutants mainly distributed in Xingtai City's river reaches, posing potential health risks. It was found that Cd accumulates strongly in sediment in sections such as the Ming River and Aixinzhuang dam, potentially causing ecological risks.
