Land Cover Changes in Selected Areas Next to Lagoons Located on the Southern Coast of the Baltic Sea, 1984-2021

Dariusz Gozdowski et al.

Summary: This study evaluates land cover changes in selected areas near three lagoons located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea. The analysis focuses on forest areas and inland water reservoirs using multispectral satellite images. From 1984 to 2021, positive changes in land cover are observed, with an increase in forest area and no significant change in the area of water reservoirs.

Hydro-Thermodynamic Processes at a Large Confluence Under Reservoir Regulation

Lidi Shi et al.

Summary: Confluences are important components in river systems, and their hydrodynamic complexity attracts increasing attention. This study investigates the hydro-thermodynamic processes at a major confluence in the Yangtze River using a three-dimensional numerical model. The results show that reservoir regulation significantly alters flow patterns in the confluence zone and affects the water mixing capacity.

Thermal stratification responses of a monomictic reservoir under different seasons and operation schemes

Maurice A. Duka et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal stratification responses of a monomictic reservoir operated under different facilities. The results show that the reservoir's thermal regime varies with season and withdrawal scheme, and is affected by upstream reach control through the vertical curtain. Different withdrawal methods affect thermal stability and thermocline strength, as well as the duration of stratification.
