Topological Quantum Statistical Mechanics and Topological Quantum Field Theories

Zhidong Zhang

Summary: The Ising model is a model that describes the interaction between spin systems, with Z(2) symmetry. It can simulate the fundamental forces of nature and provide insights into other types of interactions. This study focuses on the mathematical structure of the three-dimensional Ising model, exploring the nonlocality, topological structure, and long-range entanglement of spins. The exact solution of the ferromagnetic three-dimensional Ising model is reviewed, and a framework of topological quantum statistical mechanics is established, which is then generalized to topological quantum field theories.

Relevant alternative analytic average magnetization calculation method for the square and the honeycomb Ising lattices

Tuncer Kaya

Summary: In this work, the order parameter or the average magnetization expressions are obtained for the square and the honeycomb lattices based on a recently obtained magnetization relation. The conjectured form of the three spin correlation function is validated by comparing the obtained relations of this paper with the previously obtained exact results.

Relevant spontaneous magnetization relations for the triangular and the cubic lattice model

Tuncer Kaya

Summary: In this paper, a new tractable and easily calculable mathematical method is used to derive the spontaneous magnetization relations for the 2D triangular and 3D cubic lattices of the Ising model. The results obtained are compared with existing results to validate the new mathematical method. The method is based on exploiting the main characteristic of the order parameter of a second order phase transition, allowing for a more direct calculation of the spontaneous magnetization of the Ising model.

Analytic average magnetization expression for the body-centered cubic Ising lattice

Tuncer Kaya

Summary: The average magnetization of the body-centered cubic Ising lattice is investigated using our recently developed interrelation. We apply the same conjectures as in our previous works for the odd spins correlation functions. The mathematical forms of the odd spin correlation functions are eventually elucidated through some physical discussions. It is found that the obtained average magnetization expression is in good agreement with the numerical data for the body-centered cubic lattice Ising model.

What Does It Take to Solve the 3D Ising Model? Minimal Necessary Conditions for a Valid Solution

Gandhimohan M. Viswanathan et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the exact solution of the Ising model on the simple cubic lattice and states the difficulty in finding an analytic expression for the partition function Z. Clear-cut criteria are presented for any claimed exact expression, and previous mistaken solutions are discussed.

A Method of the Riemann-Hilbert Problem for Zhang's Conjecture 2 in a Ferromagnetic 3D Ising Model: Topological Phases

Zhidong Zhang et al.

Summary: The study employed the Riemann-Hilbert problem to address Zhang's conjecture 2 regarding the ferromagnetic Ising model in zero external magnetic field, proving that the 3D Ising model can be mapped to higher dimensions or trivial topological structures. It introduced vertex operators of knot types and a flat vector bundle for the model, and utilized monoidal transforms to trivialize knots/links in a 4D Riemann manifold. By applying the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula, the study demonstrated the relationship between topological phases and the mathematical structure of the 3D Ising model, ultimately proving Zhang's conjecture 2.

Spontaneous breaking of a discrete time-translation symmetry

J. Smits et al.

Summary: This study presents the observation and analysis of a spontaneously broken discrete time-translation symmetry in a driven system, showing a 50-50 split between two stable and temporal-distinct solutions. The experiment allows for further exploration of symmetry breaking in the discrete time crystal and for engineering excitations in space and time in the quantum domain.

Neural Monte Carlo renormalization group

Jui-Hui Chung et al.

Summary: The key idea of the renormalization group transformation is that properties of physical systems with different microscopic makeups can be characterized by few universal parameters. Despite the many possible choices of weight factors in the RG procedure, a neural Monte Carlo RG algorithm has been developed to learn a valid real-space RG transformation without prior knowledge of the physical system. This connection between physics' RG transformation and machine learning's deep architecture opens up possibilities for interdisciplinary research.
