Buckling fatigue behavior of 2A97 Al-Li alloy stiffened panels under shear loading

Yilin Peng et al.

Summary: The study on buckling fatigue behavior and failure modes of 2A97 Al-Li alloy stiffened panels under shear loading reveals that the skin thickness has a significant impact on buckling load, with complex fatigue failure modes and rivet falling off being the most dangerous. The 1.5 mm stiffened panel shows higher total fatigue life and initial fatigue life, but lower residual life.

Accurate analytical approximation to post-buckling of column with Ramberg -Osgood constitutive law

Lihui Chen et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the post-buckling behavior of a clamped column made of nonlinear elastic material under axial compression. An alternative method using the improved harmonic balance method is presented to construct concise yet accurate analytical approximate solutions. Comparison with numerical solutions shows excellent accuracy of the second-order analytical approximate solutions proposed in this paper, which can be used as design guidelines for engineering structures that sustain large deformation.

Elastic and inelastic stability of a steel arch subjected to a crown point load under an elevated fire environment

Zhaochao Li et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the stability and critical buckling load of thin-walled circular arches under a concentrated load induced by fire at high temperatures. The study finds that inelastic material properties significantly reduce the maximum load of the arch, and the heating process caused by fire dramatically decreases the load capacity of both elastic and inelastic arches. The parametric analysis shows that central angle and normalized thickness have an impact on the maximum load of the arch.

Elastic buckling and free vibration analysis of functionally graded Timoshenko beam with nonlocal strain gradient integral model

Yuan Tang et al.

Summary: This work investigates the elastic buckling and free vibration response of functionally graded Timoshenko beams using a nonlocal strain gradient integral model. By deriving governing equations and boundary conditions via Hamilton's principle and utilizing Laplace transform technique to solve integral-differential equations, explicit expressions for bending deflections, moments, cross-sectional rotation, and shear force are obtained with eight unknown constants. The nonlinear characteristic equations for determining buckling load and vibration frequency are explicitly derived, and the results are validated against existing literature.
