Methane adsorption on shales and application of temperature-related composite models based on dual adsorption modes

Zhongqi Mu et al.

Summary: This study proposed two composite models for shale gas adsorption which showed better fitting effects at low pressures. The research also revealed that filling of micropores hardly occurs in the competition of two adsorption modes, and changes in adsorption heat and entropy depend on this competition.

Molecular insights into supercritical methane sorption and self-diffusion in monospecific and composite nanopores of deep shale

Fangtao Lyu et al.

Summary: This study investigated methane sorption and self-diffusion behavior in different conditions using representative shale components. The results showed differences in adsorption performance in different nanopores, with smaller pores having stronger adsorption capacity. The study sheds light on the occurrence and transport characteristics of supercritical fluids on composite nanomaterials.

High-pressure methane adsorption behavior on deep shales: Experiments and modeling

Weijun Shen et al.

Summary: The study found that methane adsorption on deep shales is influenced by various factors, including total organic carbon content, temperature, clay minerals, and moisture content. The TOC content is positively correlated with methane adsorption capacity, while the clay mineral content is negatively correlated. Increasing temperature decreases methane adsorption capacity, but the trend may reverse at certain pressures. The presence of moisture significantly reduces methane adsorption on deep shales, with the reduction in adsorption capacity decreasing as pressure increases.
