Microtubular Fe/Mn-promoted CaO-Ca12Al14O33 bi-functional material for H2 production from sorption enhanced water gas shift

Chunxiao Zhang et al.

Summary: A hollow microtubular Fe/Mn-promoted CaO-Ca12Al14O33 bi-functional material was prepared and exhibited excellent CO2 capture and H-2 production performance in sorption enhanced water gas shift (SEWGS). The stable hollow microtubular structure improved the available adsorption and catalytic sites, while the addition of Mn enhanced CO2 affinity and Fe-Mn interaction increased redox ability. The formed compounds promoted the catalytic activity and CO2 capture capacity.

Recycling and utilization of spent potlining by different high temperature treatments

Hongliang Zhao et al.

Summary: A classified recycling and utilization path is proposed for spent cathode carbon block, spent silicon carbide block, and spent barrier and insulating refractory materials. Different high-temperature processes were adopted to decompose cyanides, Si3N4, and Na2SiO3, and separate fluorides to obtain high graphitization carbon and silicon carbide. The fluorides in spent barrier and insulating refractory materials were converted into a mineralizer to lower the burning temperature of cement clinker.

Recovery of Copper and Cobalt from Converter Slags via Reduction-Sulfurization Smelting Using Spent Pot Lining as the Reductant

Hongliang Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, a reduction-sulfurization smelting method was used to recover copper and cobalt from converter slags by using spent pot lining as the reductant. The experiments showed that under suitable conditions, copper and cobalt recovery rates exceeded 98% and 96%, respectively.

Co-combustion characteristics and kinetics of meager coal and spent cathode carbon block by TG-MS analysis

Jigang Zhang et al.

Summary: A method of mixed combustion of meager coal and SCCB for disposal of SCCB is proposed in this study, and TG-MS is used to characterize the combustion and gas release characteristics. The results show that the combustion is most efficient at a mixing ratio of 5%, indicating potential for environmentally friendly disposal of SCCB.

Recent progress on the corrosion behavior of metallic materials in HF solution

Hailong Dai et al.

Summary: This paper provides a critical review on recent progress in HF corrosion, focusing on the special attack characteristics of fluoride ion and corrosion mechanisms of stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, and titanium alloys in HF solution. Three typical corrosion behaviors were summarized, along with a discussion on the effects of influencing factors on HF corrosion. Future research directions on HF corrosion were also proposed.

Emission-to-ash detoxification mechanisms of co-combustion of spent pot lining and pulverized coal

Zihong Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the co-combustion of spent pot lining (SPL) with pulverized coal (PC) as a cost-effective method to reduce waste streams and environmental risks. The addition of PC enhances combustion efficiency of SPL, lowers leaching fluorine concentrations, and reduces gas emissions during waste-to-energy conversion.
