Bin Hu et al.

Summary: Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and denitrification are crucial in controlling nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions in coal-fired power plants. This study focused on improving the flow characteristics in SCR devices by adding a deflector, leading to stable and efficient operation. Numerical simulations were conducted to optimize the design, resulting in improved denitration efficiency and providing valuable insights for practical transformation designs.

Green and Moderate Activation of Coal Fly Ash and Its Application in Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO with NH3

Mingxin Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a green and moderate activation approach for coal fly ash (CFA) was proposed, and a series of CFA-based catalysts were prepared for NO selective catalytic reduction. The results showed that CFA could be effectively activated through mechanochemical activation, improving its activity for NO removal. The activation mechanisms involved enhanced CFA fragmentation and motivated Al dissolution, which increased oxygen storage capacity and NH3 adsorption capacity, respectively, leading to improved NO reduction performance.

Influence of phosphorus on the NH3-SCR performance of CeO2-TiO2 catalyst for NOx removal from co-incineration flue gas of domestic waste and municipal sludge

Jun Cao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of phosphorus on the NH3-SCR performance and physicochemical properties of CeO2-TiO2 catalyst. The results show that phosphorus decreases the NH3-SCR activity and suppresses the formation of NOx and N2O caused by NH3 over-oxidation. The introduction of phosphorus disrupts the catalyst's structure, limiting the transfer of electrons, the relative contents of Ce3+, and the surface adsorbed oxygen, leading to the inhibition of NH3 over-oxidation.

Structure-resolved CFD simulations to guide catalyst packing of selective NO reduction

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: This study compares the performance of monolith and packing structures with different particle shapes in boosting selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO reaction. A three-dimension structure-resolved reactor model is established to evaluate the influence of mass transfer and NO reaction performance in various industrial applications. The simulation results indicate the shift in reaction-controlled regime and diffusion-controlled regime for monolithic and cylinder-resolved catalysts as the reaction temperature decreases, resulting in different NO removal efficiencies. Therefore, a catalyst structure selection strategy based on reaction-diffusion interaction is proposed for SCR of NO reaction in different industrial applications.

Advanced Flue-Gas cleaning by wet oxidative scrubbing (WOS) using NaClO2 aqueous solutions

D. Flagiello et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of a Wet-Oxidative Scrubber (WOS) for controlling both SO2 and NOx emissions from exhaust flue-gases. The results show that the WOS can simultaneously remove SO2 and NOx, and the presence of SO2 in the flue-gas enhances the oxidative mechanisms, leading to improved NOx removal efficiency. A predictive model based on experimental dosages of NaClO2 is developed to predict the performance of the WOS unit, including de-SOx and de-NOx efficiencies as well as wash water pH.

Improvement of ammonia mixing in an industrial scale selective catalytic reduction De-NOx system of a coal-fired power plant: A numerical analysis

Jungho Sohn et al.

Summary: This study proposes several methods to improve the denitrification performance of the SCR system, including the placement of a static mixer to enhance NH3 mixing and flow velocity uniformity. Additionally, the study found that the number of injection nozzles of the AIG affects SCR performance, recommending a reduction within a tolerable range to avoid improper ammonia mixing.

Simultaneous removal of SO2 and NOx from flue gas by low-temperature adsorption over activated carbon

Shiqing Wang et al.

Summary: Under cold temperatures, the presence of oxygen enhances the adsorption capacity of NO on activated carbon. The adsorption capacity of SO2 is also significantly increased at low temperatures. A novel low-temperature adsorption (LAS) process is developed for simultaneous removal of SO2 and NOx from flue gas.

Mengmeng Ye et al.

Summary: The study focused on the CFD analysis of SCR reactors and established a model to investigate the impact of three factors on denitration efficiency. It was found that the interaction between catalyst inlet gas velocity and reaction temperature had the most significant effect on denitration efficiency, and optimizing the structure of the hot air duct and guiding plate could also improve denitration efficiency.
