Increasing the Accuracy of Hourly Multi-Output Solar Power Forecast with Physics-Informed Machine Learning

Daniel Vazquez Pombo et al.

Summary: In this research, a generic physical model is introduced into machine learning predictors for accurate photovoltaic power forecasts up to three days ahead. Basic dataset including power, wind speed, and air temperature measurements is required. Physic-informed metrics are used to capture the operational point of the photovoltaic system. The study-case validates the effectiveness of the proposed physics-informed approach across various machine learning methods.

Progress in regional PV power forecasting: A sensitivity analysis on the Italian case study

Marco Pierro et al.

Summary: This study investigates various aspects of regional PV power forecasting by comparing six different forecasting models, showing that forecasting accuracy is mainly affected by the algorithm and its processing, with less impact on forecasting horizon. Additionally, accuracy in irradiation prediction has less impact compared to individual plants.

Verification and Bias Adjustment of ECMWF SEAS5 Seasonal Forecasts over Europe for Climate Service Applications

Alice Crespi et al.

Summary: This study discusses the improvement of seasonal forecast accuracy over Europe for three key climate variables using an empirical quantile mapping bias-adjustment method, evaluating its suitability for climate services and providing tailored predictions for local applications. The method adjusted monthly quantities from the seasonal forecasting system SEAS5 by using ERA5 reanalysis as reference, reducing model biases and demonstrating comparable performance with another calibration method. This approach shows potential for providing users with calibrated predictions of monthly and seasonal quantities.
