Predicting success of direct endoscopic necrosectomy with lumen-apposing metal stents for pancreatic walled-off necrosis

Ya-Qi Zhai et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore predictors of successful direct endoscopic necrosectomy (DEN) with lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs) for pancreatic walled-off necrosis (WON). The retrospective analysis revealed that paracolic gutter extension, increasing Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score, and >50% gland necrosis were negative predictors for success of DEN with LAMSs in WON.

Endoscopic management of walled-off pancreatic necrosis

Ichiro Yasuda et al.

Summary: Walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WON) is a life-threatening complication of necrotizing pancreatitis. The step-up approach, including endoscopic interventions, is a preferred treatment option, but multidisciplinary treatment approaches should be considered for complicated cases.
