Characteristics of an Eight-Quadrant Corner Reflector Involving a Reconfigurable Active Metasurface

Lin Gan et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an eight-quadrant corner reflector equipped with an electronically controlled miniaturized active frequency-selective surface (MAFSS) for X band, aiming to improve radar characteristics controllability and polarization adaptability. The scattering characteristics of the new reflector under different switchable states, frequencies, and polarizations were simulated and analyzed. The results show that the reflector maintains a modulation depth above 10 dB in most directions and even exceeds 30 dB at the resonant frequency, and it has a wide adjustable bandwidth in different incident directions.
