Electrochemical investigation on hierarchical sea urchin shaped zinc nickel selenide for efficient supercapacitor

Summary: In this study, sea urchin-like nickel zinc selenide material was successfully synthesized through hydrothermal method and calcination process. The structure and electrochemical properties of the material were systematically analyzed. The sea urchin morphology exhibited high specific capacitance, rate capability, and cyclability due to its rigid structure and high specific surface area, which enhanced facile ionic interaction. Therefore, this work proposes a new idea for advanced electrode materials for efficient supercapacitors.

The solid-state supercapacitor assembled with this material exhibits high energy density and retains 80.76% of its initial capacity after 4000 cycles at 5 A g(-1).

This work offers a feasible route to develop high-energy battery-type electrodes for next-generation hybrid energy storage systems.

Demonstration of 1.5 V asymmetric supercapacitor developed using MnSe2-CoSe2 metal composite

Standard characterization studies confirmed the successful growth of the prepared metal selenide composite, with specific capacitance and excellent capacity retention even after 5000 cycles. Asymmetric configuration of Mn3 (0.15 wt %)//AC device showed significant power density values, indicating Mn3 (0.15 wt %) as a promising product.
