The influence of A-site deficiency on the electrochemical properties of (Ba0.95La0.05)1-xFeO3-δ as an intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell cathode

Alessio Belotti et al.

Summary: Developing cathodes that can work at intermediate temperatures is crucial for improving the performance of solid oxide fuel cells. This paper proposes a method to enhance the performance of BaFeO3-delta-based cathodes by introducing A-site deficiency, and validates the effectiveness of this method through computational and experimental analysis.

The deep-DRT: A deep neural network approach to deconvolve the distribution of relaxation times from multidimensional electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data

Emanuele Quattrocchi et al.

Summary: Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is widely used to study electrochemical systems, but interpreting the data is challenging. The distribution of relaxation times (DRT) has emerged as a complementary approach to resolve these issues. A novel deconvolution method based on deep neural networks (DNNs) has been proposed to analyze multidimensional EIS spectra effectively.

Air perturbation-induced low-frequency inductive electrochemical impedance arc in proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Quentin Meyer et al.

Summary: Proton exchange membrane fuel cells exhibit a low-frequency inductive feature that can be accurately detected by imposing air perturbations. Controlling the amplitude and current density of the air perturbations affects the state of the low-frequency arc, with the threshold for the amplitude being crucial for its formation. This study provides insights into why the low-frequency component has not been systematically detected before and proposes a widely applicable strategy to observe the low-frequency arc.

Investigation of Lithium Transference Number in PMMA Composite Polymer Electrolytes Using Monte Carlo (MC) Simulation and Recurrence Relation

Renwei Eric Koh et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of SiO2 particle size on the ionic conductivity and lithium transference number of PMMA composite polymer electrolytes was investigated using Monte Carlo simulation and recurrence relation. The addition of micron-sized SiO2 fillers improved the ionic conductivity and lithium transference number, while nano-sized SiO2 fillers further increased these properties. The enhancement in ionic conductivity and transference number is attributed to the large effective surface area of SiO2 fillers.

A comparative study of equivalent circuit model and distribution of relaxation times for fuel cell impedance diagnosis

Qing Wang et al.

Summary: Traditional equivalent circuit models face difficulties in accurately identifying mid to low-frequency impedance in fuel cells, but the distribution of relaxation times can extract characteristic peaks corresponding to main polarization processes. A developed method based on relaxation time distribution allows for characterization of gas diffusion and proton transfer impedance at low and high current density, improving the interpretability of impedance spectra.

On the use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to characterize and model the aging phenomena of lithium-ion batteries: a critical review

Pietro Iurilli et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the use of EIS spectra to characterize Li-ion cell degradation or to develop ECMs, highlighting the influence of different aging test conditions on EIS spectra, finding correlations between EIS spectra variations and degradation mechanisms, and listing options for formulating ECMs from EIS spectra of aged cells. After an exhaustive analysis of the state-of-the-art, a critical review is presented to discuss the existing links between degradation mechanisms and reliable modeling solutions.
